Match Report: Honours even in all-action game at Las Gaunas (2-2)

VCFF had a perfect start to the game as Carla Bautista fired VCFF in front inside 17 seconds after latching onto a Cristina Cubedo pass and beating the EDF Logroño goalkeeper on a one on one situation as Barges’ side came quick out of the blocks for a commanding start to the game.
VCFF were trying to play through the opposition by taking few touches and playing long passes into the opposition box looking to break into it as quickly as possible while the home side were trying to play a possession based football trying to close them down inside their own half.
The majority of play happened in VCFF’s half but VCFF managed to keep out everything in their way but the home side equalised heading into half time. Aguado came mighty close to putting VCFF in front on the stroke of half-time. However, her shot sailed over the crossbar.
The home side harried and hassled VCFF preventing them from dictating tempo. However, Javi Bargues’ side played with their shackles off so much so, that they enjoyed a clear-cut chance on the hour mark which was thwarted by the keeper and two minutes later, against the run of play, Jade put the home side in front.
VCFF dug deep to turn the tide by taking charge of proceedings with further chances for Jansen and Asun as they pegged back the home side who came close to making it 3-1 on the break but Noelia Gil snuffed out the danger with a magnificent clearance.
Persistence paid dividends right at the death when Jansen tucked it away following a pass from Pujadas. The match finished honours even in a riveting game of football at Las Gaunas in midweek.
